The City of South Fulton completed the first Comprehensive Plan Update in December of 2021. Additionally, this document will provide clarity to stakeholders (businesses, residents, partners, other governmental entities, etc.), allowing them to understand the direction of their community. Through the development and implementation of the plan, the City of South Fulton will have a strategic direction that guides decision-making in a way that maximizes resources, mitigates challenges and shapes development. It assesses current conditions, projects future trends, develops strategies and goals, and creates a work program to achieve these goals. The Georgia Planning Act of 1989 dictates that every local government in Georgia is required to develop and adopt a long-range comprehensive plan to act as a guide tool for future development.
